Product Reviews
After solidly establishing themselves on the contemporary heavy music scene, Avenged Sevenfold wasted little time following up their 2005 break-through effort, City of Evil. The band took a bold step on their fourth and self-titled full-length, opting to produce it themselves: a risky task indeed for such a young band. Right out of the gate, singer M. Shadows leads A7X even further into melodic territory. Still, the band explore dramatic power metal in the epic "A Little Piece of Heaven," while first single "Critical Acclaim" cuts close for what has become the group's signature sound. Nonetheless, it is on this self-titled set that the band sets its sights on the mainstream. ~ Doug Odell, Rovi
Product Notes
2007 album from Avenged Sevenfold (AKA A7X), the follow-up to their successful City Of Evil album, which went Gold and won the band a Best New Artist award at the MTV Video Music Awards. For this self-titled follow-up, the band gets even harder and heavier. Avenged Sevenfold, the group's first album to be self-produced, is head-banging heaven. 'We made this record for the 18- to 25-year-old kid who just wants to blast some heavy shit out his window; something you can groove to and rock out to that means something.' says band member M. Shadows. 'There's no glitz or glamour: just a heavy-hitting record that encompasses all of Avenged Sevenfold. It's a record that new fans and old fans will love.' 10 tracks including 'Almost Easy'.
