When I write a song, I always write about something that's real and that I have passion for-I mean love songs are cute and fun, but my deep dark thoughts usually go way beyond that---writing music is what gets me through the day and the night-it's a release and it keeps me out of the loony bin-so I write about injustice, poverty, war, abuse, betrayal, suicide-but I also include things like dreams, angels on the run and the magic that's you. I've always been told my vocal sound is unique-I can't say for sure because no one can really listen to themselves objectively-so I'll just say that I have the soul of Janis Joplin, the range of Tina Turner and the uniqueness of Anne Lennox or Joni Mitchell---my whole life I've listened to just about every kind of music out there-so who knows what my style is-I just go with the flow. What's really cool is that my fans are of all ages-I guess music has no boundaries and maybe just sometimes someone listening to my music gets some sort of release too.
