Alecia Halstead is an independent singer/songwriter born and raised in a small town in southern Illinois. She has been playing piano since the age of seven and has been singing for many more years before that. The CD, 'Sustained,' was released in May of 2004. While the CD contains 14 tracks total, 4 tracks have full instrumentation added into the mix and the remaining 10 tracks are vocal/piano only. Alecia has a style of her own, but if she had to be compared to other artists, Sarah McLachlan, Norah Jones, Vanessa Carlton, Tori Amos, or Alicia Keys might be a decent comparison (vocal/piano). Most of her music is mellow/balladic/easy listening, but some songs are more upbeat. Alecia currently has about 50+ songs written. Alecia is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a baccalaureate degree in Psychology (Medicine) and a minor in Women's Studies. She is currently attending medical school in hopes of becoming a general surgeon.
