Product Notes

Angela Masciale has a hauntingly beautiful voice, 'folk-classical' in sound, with a three-octave range. Her soul full original songs are composed of exquisite melodies, woven with mellifluous, poetic, stirring lyrics. Angela plays acoustic guitar, delivering harmonious, often complex finger-picking guitar accompaniment. She is willing and capable of embracing challenging subjects in her music. Angela's songs are landscapes, reflections of nature, a portrait of ideas, stories, and healing messages. Her creativity is fed by her work in the healing arts. Angela Masciale has been singing all her life. As a child/adolescent, she was on TV, in musicals, and festivals. As a teenager, she sang in a folk-rock band that played in a variety of venues on Long-Island, N.Y. She has written poetry since age eleven, and started writing songs at sixteen. As an adolescent, she had six months of formal voice training with Linda Zanti, a known opera star in Manhattan, and six years of piano lessons. She picked up basic guitar on her own, playing on and off during her teenage years, and into her twenties. As an adult she has had nine years of guitar lessons from Master Guitarist, and singer-songwriter, Raymond Gonzalez. Angela Masciale is also a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist. She uses the arts, including music, drawing, and writing, in her work with her clients. Angela has worked extensively with adults, adolescents, and children for many years. Over the past nine years, Angela has seriously reentered the music world as a performer. The reentry was catalyzed by her stepson, Adam Zampino, living with her and collaborating with her musically. 'Time Will Tell', was her first CD, released in January 2000. This was her first recording experience. On the CD, She plays acoustic guitar and sings throughout. Adam Zampino and recorded the CD and played piano, keyboard, and guitar on most of the songs. They collaborated in coproducing the CD. Adam Zampino and Michelle Zampino sing some vocal harmonies, on some of the songs. There are eleven original songs on the CD, lyrics and music composed by Angela Masciale. She sings and plays acoustic guitar throughout the CD. The CD includes the song 'The Sun Will Shine Again', one of of the first songs Angela ever wrote at age l 6. The title, 'Time Will Tell' signifies her leap back into the musical world. 'I was inspired by my son Adam coming to live with me and my husband, after he graduated from college. At the time, I was working full time as a psychiatic nurse clinical specialist and had little energy to do my music. His piano and guitar musical creations inspired my singing again. I dusted off the guitar and began singing, playing and writing music again after a number of dormant years. Once again, I was struck by the muse'. The CD, 'Time Will Tell', includes writing about environmental and social issues. The song, 'In the Palm of Our Hand', is a plea for caring about the earth, and the song 'This Body is My Home', addresses the insanity of distorted body images, imposed by the mass media, imprisoning women in our culture. ' Dream of the Leap', is a personal narrative about resisting change, and the internal dialogue one faces dealing with fear which is often unfounded. 'This song in particular has become My mantra whenever I fall back into the human condition of self doubt'. 'Zen of the Moment', speaks to making the most out of the time we do have here, living on this earthly plane.' Angela continues the balancing act of working as a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist, and performing as a singer-songwriter, performing, writing and recording her music. Angela is also the founder and cohost of King Hooper Cafe in Marblehead, Massachusetts. This is an open mic with featured performers that takes place at the Marblehead Art Association, King Hooper Mansion, on the first Sunday of each month. She has also been involved developing the musical aspect of The WomenIntheArts Festival in Marblehead, Massachusetts. This is a two day festival that was organized to raise money for H.A.W.C. help for abused women and children. She collaborated with several other women in a multifaceted arts festival. Angela recruited women performers for this festival, arranged the musical program, and performed in the WomenInTheArts festival. In September of 04 Angela Masciale released her second CD Ancient Voices. This CD has 13 orginal tracks. Half of the songs are a solo performance of Angela, singing and playing guitar. The other songs include very gifted musicians, such as Nathan Blaz on Cello, Adam Zampino on piano and jambe, Raymond Gonzalez on guitar, and Benjamin Roldan on Native American flute, chanting, and percussion. The last song on the CD 'Requium for the Earth', was orginally a poem written by her husband, Daniel Zampino. Angela put music to this poem and recorded it with her friend Benjamin Roldan, to bring a stunning musical delivery to her husband's stirring words. The other l2 songs on the CD 'Ancient Voices' are composed by by Angela Masciale (words and music). Please see bio connected to Ancient Voices to get full description of new CD. Most recently in November of 2008 she has released her third CD, 'Take Back the Land'. This is a CD of 13 orginal songs all words and music by Angela Masciale.
