Product Notes

Richard Nant in trompet and percussion, Guillermo Klein in piano, Matt Pavolka in bass and Oscar Feldman in sax. The group starts playing in the neighborhood of East Village in Manhattan in several jazz clubs like C.B.G.B's Gallery, Bagot Inn, Jules among others. Occasionally Diego Urcola in trompet, Jeff Ballard in drums and Iuzuke Yamamoto in percussion would join the group, but they all played together for the first time in the recording studio 'Sistem Two' in june 7, 1999 where they recorded the CD 'Los Argentos'.Recorded directly with two channels in a session of 6 hours, the group documents the work done. This concluds the two-year period of a lot of intensity, learning and musical revelations. In 2003 in Buenos Aires Nant rebuilds Argentos with Alvaro Torres in piano, Ariel Naon in double bass, Pipi Piazzolla in drums, Gustavo Musso and Pablo Rodriguez in saxophones. The first six months of rehersal, before there first show, gave the group an unbelievable sound and it generated new musical ideas that made posible the CD 'Manifestando', recorded in agust 8 and 9 in 2004, where the double bass is replaced by the electric bass, which was played by Matias Mendez, newist member of the band. In this second stage, Argentos reflects the maturity of the rythems and it's own language enriched with musical elements of our culture, and it also expresses of musical way of living. 'Argentos is the best proof that some ways of expresions know how to combine a modern criterion of the revaluation of the roots with the love of an opened and committed esthetic that we can include in jazz' La Nacion.
