Argonauta is comprised of four musicians of varying backgrounds and ages, who mix a variety of genres into an original blend. An evocative and imaginative sound that is contemporary and reminiscent of a period in jazz known as 'The Cool'. The music is spontaneous yet contained within surprising song forms that somehow sound inevitable. The group was originally founded by guitarist and composer Tim Farnham, who established a long time rapport with drummer and polyrhythmic stylist Mark Van Tricht. Together they created the foundation upon which the group's sound would be constructed. Next was the addition of Sam Bevan on electric bass. His sense of melody and rhythmic phrasing took the band to the next level. What remained now was to find a melodic voice to become the group's 'singer'. This voice arrived when seventeen-year- old trumpeter Joey Schneider, winner of 3 downbeat and 2 ASCAP awards for soloing and composition, joined the band. He brought an expressive melodic style and fresh jazz sensibility. The sound was now complete and the musical results were magical. Argonauta a sound that is refreshing and timeless. Argonauta, the sound of the 'New Cool'!
