Cantatas:16 BWV34 129 173 & 184[SACD]
~ J.S. Bach
There has long been a group of scholars that have proposed that Bach's sacred vocal works were originally written for solo voices and not a choir. Accent's critically-acclaimed cantata series provides a strong justification for this theory. Each disc features one cantata for each Sunday and the great feasts of the ecclesiastical year. Here, Sigiswald Kuijken and La Petite Bande are joined by a quartet of superb soloists for volume sixteen, which offers four cantatas - one for the three days of Pentecost and one for the Sunday after Pentecost, Trinity Sunday.
