BETTINA HENRICH update: New Single "Treat Me Mean" out soon! Bettina Henrich made her first musical way as a drummer in bands like B. Bang Cider, TILT!, Freak Family and PrimaVera and toured with them across Europe. But there still was that talent in her, inherited from her father, the singer/songwriter Udo Henrich. She took thought of that in 2004 and ever since calls herself Germany's oldest newcomer with a twinkle of her eye. The way Bettina Henrich applies her natural, seemingly Bossa Nova raised voice was fascinating from the beginning. Swinging lightly, melancholic-balladic or with a rocking grip, in German or in English language - she masters most different grooves and feelings, but always with an unmistakable handwriting of her own. In 2006 she e-mailed an mp3 of her song "New Orleans In The Rain" to various radio stations in the US, mostly in the states down south. Her title made it into the play lists immediately at various stations in Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Texas, California, New York and Utah and even received "heavy rotation" at quite a few of these. A part of the income from this song she has been directing to New Orleans musicians who suffered the loss of their places and instruments to hurricane Katrina. With solid support from top instrumentalists like Xaver Fischer and Eric Harings, she issued her debut album "ME." in 2008, presenting all original material in German and in English language, and the CD received plenty of air play in the USA, too. The album and "Lullaby", one of the songs included, gained prizes, even in two categories, for Bettina Henrich at the DEUTSCHER ROCK & POP PREIS 2008 (German Rock & Pop Prize 2008): • "Best CD Album Of The Year In English" • "Best Song Of The Year In English" Her German song "Vierzig" (engl: Forty), also from "ME.", has made it into the Top Ten of the RADIO SONG CONTEST 2009. In order to enable herself to perform the album's repertoire live, Bettina Henrich founded the BETTINA HENRICH TRIO with her long time fellows Till Schubert (guitar) and Ralf Wißdorf (bass). She did quite a few gigs with this group already, including live appearances on public radio and TV. At the time she is working on new songs of her own. Also, together with the trio, she is busy re-arranging and recording some previously unpublished pieces penned by her daddy Udo Henrich, who died in 1999. The new single "Treat Me Mean" will be published as an appetizer, soon. With all that Bettina Henrich did not abandon her drum set, though. The band PrimaVera can still count on her, and perhaps she will even combine lead vocals and drumming in her trio in the future.
