Product Notes

Sick and Tired, the highly anticipated debut solo album from Big Fiq is definitely "off the beaten track" in regards to where current hip hop is today. The album is purely Fiq with limited distractions i.e. cameo's or guests appearances. The album leaves behind the gaudiness of today's hip hop and machismo, but focuses on realness that true hip hop fans can bob their heads to. Sick and Tired is no doubt a thematic journey; covering themes of struggle, hope, despair, and redemption with a lyrical content that is hard-hitting and a delivery that is controlled and modest. On "The Wake up", Fiq immediately sets the stage for his purpose, "the industry needs a wake up/the game needs a shakeup/ 'cause half of these cats ain't hot/I gotta keep it real for the streets bringing life to the beats/on my mission tryna make it to the top". "Luv Me" proves the album is not lacking in production. Producer, Wax, laced this track with a mesmerizing beat and catchy sample that keeps "making your head bop till your neck bone pop". The song also features a guest appearance from Boston's own Peazy. "Sick and Tired" offers plenty of meat in 10 tracks - from opening up to the fact that his daughter doesn't share his last name in "Sick and Tired", to fighting for survival on the Philly streets in the "City of God", and reminiscing over the deaths of loved ones in "Missing You". But it all culminates in the last track, "My Own Equal" which is a powerful message of overcoming obstacles, finding your passion, looking to the future, and claiming your greatness.
