Product Notes

'The Sun and The Moon' is the second collection of original songs from singer-songwriter, Bluehat. That would be me. Nice to meet you !!! Are you in the mood for a ballad? Try clicking on "Do Sing For Me" or "It's Morning." Feeling a little blue? You might want to hear "No More You-n-Me," or 'Why Now.' Do you like songs with a story? Listen to "A Brand New Day" or "My Grandfather's Watch." Like a little country flavor? Check out "Gold" or 'This Time.' Need a lift? Click on "Kindness," 'This Love Thing,' or 'The Sun and The Moon.' In case you were wondering... What's a Bluehat? One day I was just doodling, and I drew this thing...kind of a combination of a heart, and the symbol for infinity. It was blue, and it looked like a hat. I thought "that's it...it's a name and a logo." I've been Bluehat ever since. Baby Boomer Music? I'm a baby boomer myself, and I was influenced by all the classic musicians we all grew up with. In the town where I went to high school, we had the Commodore Ballroom. In the forties and fifties, it featured live big band music. When the sixties and seventies came along, the owner changed with the times, and started booking acts like: Jeff Beck with Rod Stewart, the Cream, the Vanilla Fudge, and on and on. We saw them all, from about four feet in front of the stage. Or...We saw Led Zeppelin at the beach, and James Taylor at the local community college. We didn't know how lucky we were. Just another Saturday night, right? So your music sounds like classic rock? Not exactly. I'm still a huge fan of rock and roll guitar music (you've got to see Eric Clapton's "Crossroads Guitar Festival" DVD), but I tend to write what I feel comfortable singing. And that, we'll have to blame on my mother. She played Johnny Mathis and Brook Benton records non stop when I was a toddler. (I recently saw Johnny on a PBS special...great stuff...especially a song I hadn't heard before called "Please Be There." It sounds like something I could have written...but I didn't... and now I can't...ouch) What about the "country flavor?" My appreciation for country music came later on. I can't resist it. The lyrics are clever, and the guitar playing is just breathtaking. I recently saw Vince Gill live, and you owe it to yourself to do the same. Besides, in my youth, I drove trucks, and I just loved it. There's nothing quite like plowing this big monster down an empty highway at 3 in the morning. I miss it. I hear there's a shortage of truck drivers. I may do it again. At any rate, I'll always be working on another truck driving song. I also want to write a waltz that becomes an instant classic. I'm getting closer. Stay tuned. Anyway... I hope you're hearing something you like on this CD. You might want to check out my first one as well. It's called 'No Place Like Home,' and is also available here at CDBaby. If they aren't exactly what you're looking for, you may want to pick up a copy for your favorite aunt. Mine loves them !!! Take care, and email me anytime. Bluehat@sunsetmusic.com.
