Music & Humor of Bobmad Dog McGuire the Guy Who WR[CD]
I've been a lucky dude. They say it comes with being Irish. Some say it comes from working hard and hanging tough. Maybe some of both. I was lucky enough to be in a minority of guitar and banjo players in the 50s.I had two great teachers: my dad, a pro piano and organ man and John Stebal, who was THE guitar man. I was blessed with a good ear and a sense of style that's kept me playing since my teens.I started off in the polka boom of the 50s. Don't laugh. There were some fine players who were smart enough to get on the bus that took them to the money. I played in so many venues.I freelanced for many years. Whoever called first was the one I played for. I was in jazz groups, ballroom bands, dixieland bands. Accompanied singers, worked as half of an entertaining duo.Recorded with a lot of locals who never got famous and spent 20 years as a warmup entertainer ay Sea World of Ohio. Drew Carey walked into a jazz club one night just as someone asked for Moon Over Parma . I'm one lucky guy.......
