Borderline Eleven began in November, 2005, when 15-year-old friends Dan and Joe wanted to start a band for something fun to do in their spare time. They asked another friend, Andy, age 16, to join them. After working together for a while with guitar, bass and drums, they felt a key aspect was missing from their sound. Andy\'s older brother, amazing guitarist Luke, age 21, was asked to jump on board, and the band\'s sound was complete. Enjoying the genre of alternative/pop punk music but disappointed in the lack of songs with positive messages and clean lyrics, they set out to create their own. After mastering some carefully selected cover songs to be sure they could even play well together, they started their hand at songwriting. A monthly open mic night was held at a local church, so they showed up at every one to test out their music. The response to their original music was very positive and encouraged them to keep going. Songwriting continued to flow, and by the end of 2006, they had 18 original songs and 6 covers. The guys produced their first six-song EP in the summer of 2006, \'Pacific Wasteland\'. Their sound is alternative/pop punk rock with catchy beats and clean lyrics, and their influences are New Found Glory, The Wedding, Relient K, Hawk Nelson, Sum 41, and Switchfoot, among others. They feel that it\'s their responsibility as Christians to have a positive influence on the world and provide uplifting songs that everyone can enjoy. Their songs have a solid Christian influence but are not preachy. This EP even has an upbeat summer beach song that\'s fun to dance to! Hey, it\'s even the title track! This band relates to their audiences in a way that eludes other bands. These boys are just plain FUN to experience LIVE in concert! Your spirit is lighter after a Borderline Eleven show. You feel pretty good while listening to their songs, too!
