NEW CD Signal Heights NOW HERE ON CD BABY (c. 2009) 'PET FOOD'... c. 2006 Brandon McGovern and the Scrappers' most joyful, graceful, and thought-provoking pop effort to date. Mixing late 60's and early 70's Pop and Rock influences (i.e. The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Badfinger, Big-Star, T. Rex, Phil Seymour, The Dwight Twilley Band....) with similar-era acoustic/ electric Folk-Rock and Country influences (i.e. Sun Records, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, NRBQ, Gram Parsons & The Flying Burrito Brothers, C,S,N,&Y), McGovern and the 'Scrappers' have achieved a sound that is '....just familiar enough to make you Smile...', and just different enough to break the hum-drum of today's 'assembly-line' music industry. The 'Scrappers' are independent in every sense of the word. Once again, the band is comprised of David White's melodic yet forceful Bass playing (also producer and engineer of the recordings and playing some lead guitar), Bill Padgett's thunderous drumming (called '..tulsa's answer to Ringo Starr..'), and McGovern's multi-influenced tenor drawl, recalling days when lyrics were meant to be sung for poetic understanding and melodies made you feel something for the music. Also back in the line-up are Kevin Wright on pedal steel guitar, and Sean StandingBear giving a thorough performance as a formidable rock guitarist with sounds reminiscent of Keith Richards, Chuck Berry, and George Harrison. Moving from the successes of 'Pala-Dora' produced by Jeff Powell (CD-Baby c.2003 Humongous) and 'Bowling Alleys, BBQ Joints, & Billiard Halls' (CD-Baby c.2005) McGovern and company bring you 'Pet Food' a sterling pop album performance they hope you will enjoy!
