After writing a few songs for piano and performing at open mics on the University of Illinois campus, Brian Esmao soon got started creating a repertoire of song-writing gems. He has since honed his pop sensibility to write sometimes intelligent and insightful, or sometimes fun and silly lyrics and tiptoe between different genres of music all based in piano to create a unique indie package. He teamed up with Jason Lucas, a formal metal bassist, and the music started to take shape as highly Ben Folds influenced. They played at bars, trying to establish themselves in the Champaign-Urbana music scene. After playing a few shows with their new drummer Austin Hill, they recorded their 6-song CD 'Puzzle Box' in January of 2009 at Pogo Studio in Champaign. Brian Esmao continues to explore different types of music, and is currently working on the soundtrack for a 3D adventure video game.
