Broken Temple is Andy Poen Wu (vocals/guitar), David Wu (bass), and Bill Woods (drums). Formed in January, 2002, the band played their first show in April. A month later, Broken Temple surprised many by taking first place in the Rock 'N' Roll Round-Up 2002. Out of 11 hard-rock bands from Washington, California, and Idaho, the tenacity of Broken Temple earned them the title, 'Last Band Standing.' The band immediately produced a CD, using the title 'Last Band Standing', and consigned them with several Seattle record stores. Unfortunately, after several shows the sales for the CD was weak with less than a dozen sold. In 2003, Broken Temple released 'Psychorock'. Although the band signed a publishing contract with Rolling Rochaus for the album's last song 'Rock the Funeral', the release did not lead to any show offers or CD reviews. 'Equivocal', the third album of Broken Temple, is to be released in 2004. Andy is the leader of Broken Temple. Growing up in Taiwan, he often dreamed of grand adventures inspired by Jing Yong's wuxia novels. At age 10, he moved to America along with his mother and brother. His father stayed in Taiwan to work. In 2000, while studying psychology at the University of Washington, Andy formed First Dream. The rock group lasted for two years and played many shows in western Washington. Some venues included Ballard Firehouse, Rain Dancer, 6th and Proctor Bar & Grill, and Saint Martin's College. In 2002, First Dream disbanded as the bassist and the group parted ways. Andy then formed Broken Temple with his brother on bass and the remaining drummer from First Dream. Bill has worked with Andy since 2000. He brings the much needed experience and sensibility. Bill has been in 10 different bands and worked as a studio musician with styles as varied as Celtic, Jazz/Rock fusion, New Age, and Opera. With an electric drum set, he brings many possibilities to the music. More importantly, Bill is a nice guy with lots of witty jokes and random knowledge. David is the bassist that completes the band. A fan of Pantera and Metallica, he brings a rebellious edge to Broken Temple. David also draws the art for the band. Although he has the least experience in the group, he complements Andy and Bill to make Broken Temple an exciting and unique entity.
