Product Notes

Bio of the Artist Brownskinfella brings back old school hip-hop mixed with his love of R & B. BSF wants to take us back to when hip-hop was about our culture. His lyrics are filled with his honesty and life experiences. Those experiences include encounters that children should not have knowledge of until they are of legal age. Instead of BSF shying away from these hurtful experiences he writes about them in all of his lyrics, to draw the listener into his world. BSF was blessed with being a naturally gifted writer. At the tender age of 12, he wrote short stories and songs for school and for the singing group he participated in with his neighborhood friends. Writing lyrics and composing music was as much as his life then as it is now. BSF was born and raised in N.Y.C.- Uptown, Washington Heights to be exact. BSF was a shy and quiet kid, a little on the skinny side. Thanks to his mother, he learned responsibility at a young age. His mother would send him to the store with five dollars to buy dinner for his family. His mother knew that out of all her children he was the one that would be able to do as she asked and make the impossible happen. BSF's mother plays a very special part in his life, not only because she brought him into the world, but also because she taught him values and respect. One of his mother's sayings is 'It takes 24 hours to mind your own business,' meaning if you are minding your own business 24 hours a day, you have no time to mind anyone else's. This taught BSF to always focus on his own life, and not to be worried about what others are doing, because you only have control over your own life. As BSF says 'take time, but don't waste your time.' BSF's mother also taught him to never be embarrased by someone else's actions. As a young kid growing up in NYC, BSF took the train on a daily basis. While riding the train he would often see a homeless man. His friends would laugh and make jokes because this homeless man on the train was BSF's father. Like so many father's today, BSF's father was not a permanent fixture in his life. However, he did teach BSF a lesson about what he did not want to be when he grew up and he gave him the drive to always do his best at all of his endeavors. This was one of the many experiences that molded BSF into the person he is today. BSF learned the art of hustling, and that anything in life you want you have to go out and get; nothing comes easy; and as long as you have faith in yourself and God you can accomplish anything. The streets of NYC have never been easy, but BSF learned the art of survival through all of his trials and tribulations as a youth in NYC. After finishing high school, BSF decided he needed a change of scenery and moved to Boston, MA. No matter how much his mother tried to instill goodness and kindness into BSF there was a time when he strayed from his mother's teachings due to hate inflcited on him from others- not just strangers but friends and family members as well. These hateful acts turned BSF into a person who could not trust others. He had to keep people at a distance in order to protect himself. Eventually, he learned to be open and honest with everyone so they always knew where he stood on any and all issues. BSF is a no nonsense kind of guy, to meet him, is to know him, is to understand him!!! After arriving in Boston, BSF's life took a turn in the wrong direction, he turned to the streets and his life was now consumed with sex, drugs and violence. BSF was a young father who found himself backed against the wall with no way out and no one to turn to. BSF decided that in order to clear his mind he would start writing songs and poetry as a way to get his creative juices flowing. Since BSF was now an adult he realized that he was no longer coming up with adolescent rhymes but his music was now more mature and had a powerful meaning and purpose behind it. In 2003, BSF decided to fulfill one of his dreams of living oceanfront and moved to Virginia Beach, VA. There, with a $150 keyboard, he started to perfect his art of writing and producing music. In Va Beach, BSF was able to think clearly and sort out his career plans. He began producing instrumentals and writing songs that he would one day record in a professional studio. In an 8-month period he had created over 60 songs, but he needed to find the means to get into a studio and record them. When his lease was up in VA, he decided to make one final move to Arizona, the place he hoped to call home. In May 2004, he packed his belongings and drove cross-country to Arizona, Arizona for BSF represented a peaceful place where he could continue to write positive music and get back to his Native American roots. Once in Arizona, BSF knew it was time to put his plan into action. He had to do eveything he needed to get where he wanted to be, and that entailed getting his music out there for people to hear. Although he'd spent hundreds of dollars at professional studios, he was never happy with the finished product. BSF decided he could do better himself and with no professional training he started to accumulate studio equipment. Today BSF has written, arranged and produced over 45 songs in his home studio. This is where he recorded his first album 'This 1's For Me Unedited and Unmixed' which contains 18 songs. This album is for all the aspiring artists who are talented and driven but don't quite have the means to make it happen. BSF has recently finished his second album 'Bum to Billionaire', which shows his growth as an artist, producer and most of all a man. BSF is a man whose character is built on respect, dignity and honesty. His life experiences and his desire to see the world change for the better, makes him a very unique artist. His views on family, friends and being true to yourself, come through in everything he creates. BSF always puts one hundred and fifty percent in everything he touches. He let's you into his heart by sharing the highs and lows of his tumultous, but passion-filled life through his music. Take what you hear and make a change for the better in your life. 'Can ya hear me hear me right now, this is just a story, mamas don't run out, papa don't' act like ya worried, the kids here are skurry man they confused and abused they gone lose if you don't give them options to choose, don't hop into cruise mama please watch what you do, fathers please take away the booze it's how you take away the bruise and the scuffs and scars that you bring home from the bars and the little white shit they call 'crack in a jar' ends up smacking you hard leaves ya lame and retarded sons turn to alcohol sips daughters turn to men with more chips end up hoeing down a forest leads to 4 kids and divorces wondering why she's not a princess didn't turn out like Dolores' -Son of their Sin- Brownskinfella.
