What is a 'Naked Track' you ask? It's a recording that is stripped down with no nonessential instrumentation. All of the songs (except one...there's always an exception) have one vocal and one instrument. No fancy production. No bass or drums or added keyboard sounds. Just the minimum required to convey the song. The point being, sometimes less is more. The obvious question is, why make an album that doesn't have full instrumentation? The idea was to capture the songs without all of the extra sounds that will appear on later recordings. It's hard to take paint off a canvas. All of the original songs on the album will appear on future albums of The Iowa Stalks with full instrumentation, fully clothed. I'm looking forward to that, but that wasn't the point of this album. The idea was to capture the songs without any make-up, absent of musical decisions that will enhance, yet define them. A painted up, wonderfully dressed woman is a beautiful thing, but seeing her naked, well, that's something special.
