Product Notes

Don't let reality get in the way of a good time. 'KLMB Radio Presents - Buck Buick & the Wildcats' is a somewhat farcical presentation of a radio show, 'The Storm', with a fictional host, Cal Storm (Steve Curtis), broadcasting from a fictional radio station, KLMB, in a fictional place called Lambdon County. Buck Buick (Vince Ashby) is a local favorite and is being showcased. The CD tracks are mastered contiguously to maintain the flow of a live show. The CD is primarily a one man tour-de-force as all but three songs were produced, engineered, and all instruments & vocals performed by Vince Ashby with a notable exception of Teddy Douglas on pedal steel guitar on 'You Never Leave Me When I'm Gone'. Vince also did the CD mastering as well as the artwork and design. 'Road Rage', 'This Drink's On Me', and 'The Louisiana Storm' were recorded at Smokehouse Studio, Nashville, TN. Vaughn Lofstead helped produce and engineered these tunes. The songs feature some great Nashville players: Jim Unger, fiddle; Tony Paoletta, pedal steel guitar; Clay Krasten, bass; Steve Holland, drums; and Vaughn Lofstead, acoustic guitar on 'This Drink's On Me'. Cal Storm is a product of the fertile mind of Steve Curtis, and the KLMB jingle singers were Cheryl Ashby and Vince Ashby. Let's not overlook the songs. All the songs were written by Vince Ashby are all well-crafted, and virtually all uptempo. Check your blood pressure if you fall asleep on this one. Most, but not all of the lyrics have a 'tongue in cheek' quality and should induce a smile, maybe even an outright laugh. There is some edgy, signature Vince Ashby guitar work going on, too. Buck Buick and Cal Storm are also characters in a heretofore unpublished and arguably twisted story/screenplay entitled, 'The Innocence of The Lamb', written by Steve Curtis and Vince Ashby - hence the 'IOTL Theme'. Be sure to visit Buck's website to monitor the progress of this piece of work. Nick Nagler, Lambdon County Press.
