C. Scott Hagler became interested in ragtime in his teens, fueled by his great uncle's 78 recording of the Maple Leaf Rag, a contest between Scott and his two brothers to learn a ragtime piece, the movie The Sting which featured the music of Scott Joplin, frequent visits to the Diamond Circle, and an encouraging mother/piano teacher (Thanks, Mom!). Scott is now Minister of Music and Arts at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Durango, Colorado; conductor of the Durango Choral Society, and instructor of piano and organ at Fort Lewis College. He played ragtime and entertained at the Diamond Circle Melodrama and Vaudeville in 2006 and 2007.
