Carlo Colombo is a revelation in the Italian contemporary jazz scene,a singer, a pianist and composer following in the best tradition of historical artists such as Paolo Conte, Fred Buscaglione and Renato Carosone. The songs on this album are all Colombo originals except for a swinging version of the world famous " Volare", and are excellently performed by a tipically '50 - '60 sounding quintet. Colombo's lyrics are superbly ironic, satirical and uncommonly witty, and his delivery equals that of the most experienced crooner; Not to be missed... Born in 1970, begins his musical career playing keyboards in several rock bands, during the nineties he is interested in jazz music so, he begins studying in stages with famous jazz musicians ( Harold Danko, Mark Egan). He founds a trio singing famous Italian jazz standards by Conte, Carosone and Buscaglione. In 2002 his first CD " Sfonderai", soon his trio becomes a quintet, plays in important Jazz clubs and festivals; in 2005 meets Maurizio Bozzi, musician and owner of a new indie label called " Drycastle records", together they decide to produce a new CD : " Playboy".
