Catalina's Lockbox Diary is a project that came about as the result of ultimate personal loss. It was a way for Ivan to channel the anger that followed and release it as something positive. The first run of unreleased songs came to life in 2001 but the project was unnamed. While Ivan was playing guitar for the Tampa, Fl band Without Fail in 2004, CLD was placed on the back burner. Shortly after leaving Without Fail in early 2005 it was back to writing and recording songs in the home studio. The first public release of songs came about in the fall of 2006 with four songs, including 'The Folded Note', appearing on the CLD myspace website. From harmonious yet agressive guitars to thumping bass and pounding drums, the music carries the emotions portrayed by each song. Songs of total love, absolute hate, anger, frustration, sorrow, dark desire, and want for a better human condition are forged with precision both musically and lyrically.
