Product Notes

John Pomeroy's delve into popular music began in the seventh grade when he decided on a whim to begin private drum lessons and form a band with his close friend Dov Kadin. The two began writing songs together and playing mostly covers with other kids in the neighborhood. As he spent more time with guitarists, John began to pick up help from them on playing the guitar and messed around with his father's old guitar. By their sophomore year, they had formed a band with some other friends that would soon be known as Sexual Chocolate, a silly high school band influenced by the music of the '90s. By this time, John had taught himself to play guitar and bass as well. He was writing his own songs and creating a sound that strayed from the rest of the band. When his recording program, Power Tracks, was gifted to him one Christmas, he quickly recorded "Try to See" and "Sleep until the Rain is Gone" providing the full instrumentation alone, and going by the name The Eradicals. As time moved on, he had the first 5 tracks of the first album, Spirit of the Traveler, in a rough recorded version. But he soon began to grow busier with school work, and assuming a leadership position in the school band. Recording music came much more slowly and was not a top priority. In the middle of his senior year he grew frustrated that he'd never completed a CD and was inspired to go back, Polish up the old songs, and write the final two tracks of the album and change the name to The Cerfs. It was finally completed and John began hand-making the CDs which he released in April, 2008. He graduated high school and by the middle of his last summer in town he realized that he would be leaving all of his instruments behind when he went to college at UC Santa Cruz. He was driven to record one more album before he left and his songwriting was influenced by the departure of all of his friends as they all were heading off to college. He completed Endless Sky Crisis by the end of summer as a dedication to, and reflection of all his friends that are going their separate ways. His experience and musicality has slowly progressed over the years due to performing with others and spending 4 years in his high school band program.
