The Westmoreland Chorale Chorale History May 2008 Recent Ministry Moments Bishop Paul Morton, Greater St. Stephens Bishop Eddie Long, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Summer 2007 News Flash The Westmoreland Chorale closed out the Bobby Jones Industry Retreat in Hollywood, Florida on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 Minister Charles Westmoreland Atlanta Gospel Choice Award Recipient Best Choir Director of the Year - Fall 2006 Also nominated as Best Male Vocalist of the Year The Westmoreland Chorale was founded fourteen years ago under the leadership of Ministers Charles and Deloris Westmoreland. Through prayer, meditation, and songs the Chorale is reaching out to people in prisons, nursing homes, homeless shelters, elementary schools, high schools, inner city communities, and hospitals. They continuously lend a hand and word of comfort to the people of God; spreading the good news that Jesus loves and cares for them. The Chorale has participated in many special events and has received several honors since it's inception in 1993, and some of these include: The Atlanta Super Show sponsored by the International Olympic Committee, GCTV Cable Television Productions, Religious Expo, Kingfest, two appearances on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show, downtown Atlanta for former Mayor Maynard Jackson, Martin Luther King Jr., International Chapel (Morehouse College), and Ebenezer Baptist Church for former Mayor Andrew Young. The Chorale was nominated in three categories in 1994 for The Atlanta's People Choice Awards, Producer of the Year, Choir of the Year, and Song of the Year for their project Arise O' Judah. The Chorale also performed at the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta, GA July, 2002 and 2003. It was an honor to be featured during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games at venues such as the infamous "House of Blues" Gospel Day (two occasions), Centennial Olympic Park (Southern Crossroad Stage), which was one of the premier attractions of the 1996 Olympic Games, and Big Bethel A.M.E. another Olympic venue. The Chorale performed on stage at the Atlanta FOX Theatre during a major production entitled "The Civil War" starring Bebe Winans and Larry Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers. The Chorale performed eight days during this production. Television appearances include: Three spots on Atlanta's number one rated morning show, FOX 5 GOOD DAY ATLANTA, Candi Staton's "Say Yes". Pay Per View's Christmas Special in 1996 with Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, and Ann Nesby. Performance ministry on WATC TV57 (Atlanta Alive with Phil Gray / Safehouse) and the internationally known Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). Performed for the Arthritis Foundation, Georgia Chapter 5/06/06. The Westmoreland Chorale was the opening group for the Universoul Circus in Atlanta, GA February 2007. The Westmoreland Chorale, in it's versatility and it's desire to reach the total community ventured in the world of theatre. Since 1995 Charles and Deloris has written three theatrical productions entitled "The Saviour Lives", "Ticket Please" (Rapture), "Keeping the Family Together" & Family Matters - A Change of Heart. Their most recent production of "Keeping the Family Together" provides a message of hope and deliverance for dysfunctional families. A soundtrack also entitled "Keeping the Family Together" title cut, "Without God There Is No Family" was released in 2001. Keeping the Family Together has received excellent reviews, and is highly acclaimed in the Atlanta community. The summer of 2001, the Chorale presented "Keeping the Family Together" production in the city of Decatur at Pilgrim Cathedral of Atlanta; they also traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana to present this production at the National Black Family Ministry Convocation for the Lutheran Church. This production was has also been performed in Atlanta, October 2002, at the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel (Morehouse College), Inman, S.C, and Covenant Ministries International, Atlanta, Georgia in 2005. Family Matters-A Change of Heart was performed for Bethany Christian Services, an adoption agency, in 2006. Latest CD release: "Seasons" springs forth a song for every season of life and is available now. Concert Tours / Ministry Georgia, New York, Louisiana, Florida, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Canada, Alabama, Kentucky, South Carolina, North Carolina, California, Jamaica, Washington D.C., Maryland, Texas, and Tennessee.
