Product Notes

Cheryl Lynne Skinner-flautist, vocalist, pianist and composer-combines a myriad of styles, including Jazz, R&B, Latin-American, African and classical to achieve her unique smooth contemporary sound. The native Kentuckian released her first CD Sunday Afternoon as part of the Jazz Cabaret Series at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. From the primal rhythms of "African Arias" to the haunting lyricism of "Sunday Afternoon" to the stylistic surprises of "Go For Baroque" Sunday Afternoon projects Skinner's energy, spirituality and gentle humor. 'Sunday Afternoon' was taped 'live' at the Kentucky Center for the Arts as part of the 'Jazz Cabaret Series'. Cheryl was assisted by Keith McCutchen on keyboards, Bob Bryant on bass, Dave Farris on drums and Tripp Bratton on percussion. The Kentucky Education Television network (KET) videotaped Skinner's Concert for use in a documentary. KET2 adopted 'Go For Baroque' from the CD as the theme song for their weekly program 'Mixed Media'. The CD is dedicated to the memory of Susan B. Thompson an avid supporter of women in the arts who lost her fight for life to breast cancer. The duplication and manufacturing funds were partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Cheryl is currently producing her second CD 'Shades of Blue'. 'Shades of Blue' reflects her artistry as a sound synthesist and introduces what she calls 'Contemporary M.U.S.E' (Music Unleashed from Soul Experience').
