The Child The Child (formerly known as Espinas) is a Nick Schinder´s project, which has involved many different musicians from it's origin, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1999. That same year, The Child achieves the first place of the 2nd Rock Festival of the Lanus National University. Since 2000 they have frequently performed in well reputed places of the city: The Cavern Club, Hard Rock Café, Hooters, Premier Theatre and many others, even in the rest of the country. At the end of the year, they get to be one of the 20 finalists of the 1st Iberoamerican Contest of Internet Music, organized by La Resistencia, from the site El Foco, Universal, between 2700 participants from all Latin America, Spain and even U.S.A. On march, 2001, the group releases it's first LP : 'Espinas de Este Tamaño' ('Thorns of This Size'), featuring covers and original material. They have shared stage with some of the greatest argentinian musicians, such as Charly Garcia, Pedro Aznar, or Fabiana Cantilo. On September, 2001, they get to the semi-finals of the 'Aguante Buenos Aires', a mega-contest that gathered more than 500 bands of the city and suburbs. The jury argues that they did not win because they sing in English, and only a few songs in Spanish. They have also reached the semifinals of the First Latinamerican Beatle Week, by playing their very special versions of some Beatles songs. Since 2002, The Child resides in Barcelona, Spain, where they usually plays at many historical music places of the city, such as Kennedy, London Pub, La Ruta dels Elefants or Maremagnum. On 2003 they reach the semifinals of the Demo Project organized by the International Festival of Benicassim 2003, one of the greatest in the pop, electro and indie scene in continental Europe. On the same year, The Child produces it's second album, 'Home', wich begins to define the sound of the band: an unclassifiable pop, post rock, electro and world music blend, heterodox material and exquisite vocals. The Child has launched their third LP, 'Format Soul:' in january, 2005. They are moving to London in june. Be ready to surprise. This is not a genre band: independence means artistic freedom. Enjoy the moment while it´s gone...
