I've been playing music all my life, recording and performing with diverse groups, from acid-rock drumming to playing bottle-neck guitar; from picking the mandolin and drumming in a bluegrass/rock-a-billy band to blues ensemble, by way of funk, fusion and bebop. Writing music came from my love for jazz and blues, which reaches into my deepest places. I play drums on Carnivale, while bassist Roger Tuan arranged the funky standards versions, and Chris Houston is playing the Rhodes electrics, adding the clavinet rhythmic bounce. We were lucky that John Magyari and Jon Familant were available for their kick-ass melody and solos on horns. Magyari's brilliant solos and Familant's sweet soprano interpretations provided some of the finest moments on the album. Also, Brian Gerard's technical solos kept us remembering we were playing jazz. Enjoy! Chris Cosbey.
