Product Notes

Like the classic cartoon of the angel on one shoulder, and the devil on the other, in all of her original songs on this CD the good girl-bad girl battle unfolds quickly. With a Grandfather who was a minister, Cindy grew up singing in the church choir. But the southern rocker has always been trying to get out! So how do you blend the two? After her Grandfather retired, her musical horizons expanded while she spent time in Black Gospel churches and then sang in rock and roll style Church bands. Since these two styles form the basis for Country music, it was only natural that this 'Jersey Girl' was drawn to Country music. It's the perfect genre to blend a little gospel with a little southern rock. She joined a New Jersey based band that does cover songs by none other than (of course!) Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi, and she brings a rockin' country vibe to the band doing songs by JoDee Messina, Tanya Tucker and Carrie Underwood. It's a great mix in a style that can best be described as 'Crossroads' style, and the word that perfectly describes her musical style. On her Debut CD, she brought in some of the best musicians in New Jersey from bands like the Asbury Jukes, to give a great rock-n-roll vibe to her country songs, and was able to mix a New Jersey version of a Nashville sound. As a mom of a child with Autism, and a dancer/aerobics instructor, she writes songs of hope and strength, but these songs are not cutesy-pop. With a gritty, raspy, Bonnie Raitt style, they're songs about real life, like that man that just won't grow up, and songs about abuse and dealing with insecurity, that give the album it's edge. There are a couple straight forward country tunes, and with a wink back to Johnny Cash and 'A Boy Named Sue', she even shows her sense of humor and how 'Mom' raps in a talking song! She never forgets her gospel roots however, and brings a subtle inspirational message to each of her songs. This gives her CD an appeal to a wide range of fans, from lovers of classic and southern rock, to country and blues, to the church pew. There's a little something for everyone.
