Product Notes

Colin Ward has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old when his grandfather gave him a very well-worn acoustic of uncertain origin. He started writing songs about his other passion, cruising on a sailboat, when he was recovering from a sailing trip down the length of the Intra-Coastal Waterway. The ICW Blues was born and the rest is history. Songwriters are advised to write about what they know and Colin knows sailing and cruising well. He and his lovely wife have lived aboard and cruised their 42 foot sailboat for 10 years. While some people write songs about cars, Colin has written a song about his two dinghies. Lots of songs have been written about dreams, but Colin's was a nightmare about being in the cockpit of the boat all alone. Eddie's Edgewater is a popular watering hole in the Bahamas and is deserving of it's own song. Colin has played music along the way while cruising on the boat. The ICW Blues is always a hit among cruisers and has been featured at the George Town, Bahamas cruising regatta. Eddie's Edgewater was played by the hastily formed band, Folks On Boats for the Bahamian Music and Heritage Festival. Goodbye Island is a protest song about an island that is being developed. Colin is protesting the loss of an anchorage adjacent to the island due to the government giving water rights to the developers. Colin has been a guitar player since he was 12 years old when his grandfather loaned him an ancient acoustic guitar of unknown origin. He has become a prolific songwriter in the last ten years. Colin's song Wish I'd Never was used as background music for a FOX TV show called The Good Guys. He has also placed songs in independent films and in radio advertisements. Colin, who hails from England, brings us great tunes in the Folk, Folk Rock, Country, Blues, and Tropical genres. Colin has been a resident of western Florida for the past ten years. Colin has traveled the world and has cruised extensively on his sailboat. His songs reflect his lifetime of experiences. He has lived in England, Ohio, West Virginia, Chicago, Texas, the Bahamas and now Florida. He has visited all the countries in North America, most states, most Caribbean islands, most European countries, China, Japan, Russia and Hong Kong. While there is admittedly some poetic license in play, his stories are largely true. Colin lists many great classic rock, folk and country artists as his influences. The Beatles, The Byrds, The Ventures, The Shadows, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Roger McGuinn, Alison Krauss, Jimmy Buffett, Carole King, Paul Simon, Chet Atkins, Valerie Carter, The Eagles, Albert King, BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He listens to Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, Guy Clark, and many top local artists from the West Coast of Florida like John Kelly, Rebekah Pulley and Jayne Kelli. An avid performer, Colin is a member of the Blue Island Beer Club acoustic duo, and the Trop Rock Junkies tropical band. He has played at the Englewood Music Festival, the Bahamian Music and Heritage Festival, the Gulfport Geckofest, the Tampa Songs Music Festival, and has even opened for the legendary Jimmy Buffett at the Ford Amphitheater. Colin appears on two Blue Island Beer Club CDs and one CD from the Trop Rock Junkies with another one on the way.
