In the early summer of 2008, Esther Marie, a songwriter from Galveston and a huge NASCAR fan, approached her publisher, Mike Black of Gaylord Music Company, with the idea of writing an entire album devoted to NASCAR racing. He, being a fan as well, called another songwriter, Ron Thamm, and had him team with Marie on the project and said, "Get after it and let's see how it looks." The results were fantastic! At this point Mike called Robbie Roberts, his partner in the record company Racetrack Music, with the idea and the "Race was On." Bringing in veteran and well known musicians David Grissom on guitar, Jon Blondell on bass guitar, Jimm Davis on drums and Mike Black and Buck Yeager on vocals --- NASCAR Junkie was born! After recording in Houston, they went to Austin and joined forces with Steve Chadie to finish it up. If you don't love this album, call us personally and we'll give you your money back. This album covers the birth of NASCAR, with "Hush, Hush Thing", to songs about Jimmie Johnson winning three cups in a row, "Go Jimmie Go", to that fateful day in Daytona in 2001, "Wreckin' That's Racin' ", to a song about fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr., "Jr. Can" to other great songs about NASCAR.
