I am a singer songwriter from the tri-states region of New York. Sometimes it's like walking around in a Faulkner novel or a William Carlos Williams poem and I end my work day by coming home and trying to detail the occurrences of every day people and how they relate to my life. I feel like creating a song is like charting an emotional roadmap for people to relate to and explore. If the listener sits back and says, "Yes, I've been there before!" or "This song pinpoints an element of my life that I've always wanted to express!" then the act of my creation is justified. From start to finish, all the music, lyrics, recording, mixing, producing and art work is highly personal and a solitary act for me. Though I do use outside musicians occasionally and heed the advice and intuition of friends, I strive to realize the vision of how I perceive the song and what it means to me. I find this is the case for most artists nowadays and I feel that one day each of our individual creative cells will begin to outline, describe and connect into a higher state of consciousness. We are, after all, made in the image of our Creator and we emulate and aspire to be creators ourselves, almost as an act of worship or prayer. My goal as an artist has been to detail the events of my life. If a lyric helps to distract the listener from the mundane aspects of everyday life, then I feel my job has been fulfilled. Art, as a cathartic experience can elevate the normal human condition into the profound.
