Houston A Baker, defines folk music as a guerrilla sound that deterritorializes the listener and requires them to accept the music form on it's own conditions. D.biddle composes their music with this very ideal in mind, using folk, punk, and pop influences to create songs that are both sonically pleasing and culturally skeptical with abstract lyrics that blur the lines between the personal and the political. By combining strings, percussions, brass, reeds, synthesizers, and a warm, personal, vocal presence, d.biddle strives to extend punk sensibilities into song structures that search for a sonic definition of home in a world where home has been displaced. With members that grew up in the punk and indie scenes of the 1980s and ?90s, d.biddle maintains a responsibility in it's song writing and performances that heralds back to a time of community and activism in the underground music scene. The band formed in 2002, when Duncan Barlow (Endpoint, Guilt, By The Grace of God) asked Ben Desoto (The Czars), Jeff Davenport, and Jamie Smith (Granfaloon Bus) to back him up at a series of shows he was playing to support his Trouble Man Unlimited 7" single "Je Pars de la Maison." The shows went so well that they decided to transform d.biddle from a part time solo project into a full-fledged band. After recording in 2004 with friend and musician Pall Jenkins (The Black Heart Procession) the band added Erin Roberts on trumpet and piano. D.biddle's self-titled record was produced and recorded by Pall Jenkins of The Black Heart Procession.
