Da Heart Da Hustle Da Movement / Various[CD]
Born Marvin Chestnut in the winter of 1978, the artist/producer known as Professa was raised in the heart of Cabrini Green, one of Chicagos most notorious housing developments. The first twelve years of his life were spent trying to elude the gangs, drugs, and violence that made this north side neighborhood infamous. In the late summer of 93, after a five-year stay on the south side of Chicago, Marvins mother was finally able to move the family to the Minneapolis,Mn area, but the Twin Cities provided little solace from the daily struggle for survival that they'd hoped to escape by leaving the Chicagoland region behind. Marvin felt like a stranger in a strange land in this strange Land of Lakes, but he did his best to provide for his mother and family. However, in his tireless efforts to support his family, the skills that he'd learned on the streets of Minneapolis,Mn temporarily cost him his freedom. It wasn't until late 1997, upon his release from lock-up in North Dakota, that Marvin finally made the decision to turn his whole life around and direct his momentum in a bold new direction. He would combine his passion for music with his experiences in the hood and deliver a unique point of view to whomever would lend an ear. And thus, Professa was born. He began producing music for local talent around Minnesota, New York and Atlanta, as well as metropolitan Chicagoland. Professa has since been sought out by local musicians and established artists alike, each hoping to catch for themseleves a bit of the magic in his unique production style. Professa has since relocated to the music mecca of Los Angeles as he continues reaching west, starting his westward expansion by bringing his distinctive musical genius to the City Of Angels.
