Dale Haskell has been performing in coffeehouses, clubs, festivals, and campuses in Southern Missouri and Southern Illinois for the part four years, mostly because he loves to watch people's faces as they hear the stories and ideas that emerge in his songs. He teaches poetry and creative writing at Southeast Missouri State University, but only recently discovered that he enjoys writing songs, with fifty news ones coming in 2004. Dale loves teaching, smiles so often people think he's up to no good, rides a bicycle for fun, and is married to a woman who is smarter and classier than he is. Writing 'lucky in love' songs comes naturally to him. It's really all about the words for this singer-songwriter, although with the help of gifted studio musicians, the recordings become nicely polished and multi-layered. Following the example of John Prine, Dale thinks a songwriter doesn't need to be anything more than a chord-strummer if he KNOWS some talented people who are willing to help make the records.
