The film, with it's countdown to apocalypse, it's intimations of time travel and alternate universes, and it's 6-foot-tall talking bunny rabbit, lends itself easily to wildly divergent explanations. In the Film a fictional book by Roberta Sparrow 'The Philosophy of Time Travel' explains that time, while usually stable, will occasionally become corrupted for reasons unknown to all. When this happens, a Tangent Universe is created -- an alternate reality parallel to the primary universe in which we all live. 'If a Tangent Universe occurs,' Sparrow writes, 'it will be highly unstable, sustaining itself for no longer than several weeks. Eventually it will collapse upon itself, forming a black hole within the Primary Universe capable of destroying all existence.' During that collapse, a time-space vortex will form that leads back to the birth of the Tangent Universe. Everyone of us has our own Tangent Universe. A place in which we occupy of random events that makes us question our own reality. Why I titled a CD to this theory is for consistency. I have different heads that I write in sometimes right brained and the other can go far left. I live on the Left coast and spend a lot of my time on the East. Everything has a parallel. Just sometimes it is difficult to find yourself in the middle. You have to decide which direction to go take responsibility of getting there or oscillate between the two. Are you going to somewhere or getting away from somewhere. It may be more than words or terminology but a conceptual though process that will somehow determine where you end up. I wanted to wrote a record that was more streamlined conceptually and musically than in the past. With Love Drive-By I went to a lot of different places musically. I did finally come around 360 but the pitch was steep. I needed to do so for that record. The bell curve for Tangent Universe is steep lyrically however musically it is much more focused, more mature. Everything that goes left hits a center before swinging in a opposite direction. To tie it to a theme excuses the stretch of ideas. In the end the big picture works, sometimes you really do have to stand back from the picture to have a better understanding. But once again I don't really edit, censor or change up midstream, I follow myself and my instincts. Most of the time I write stream of conscience then look at it later and examine what I wrote. A lot of the time I ask myself "what the hell is this about?" Artist history Damien's first demo tape earned him an investment deal and took him to New York City where he recorded and launched his first independent CD of underground house and spoken word. In order to promote these singles he made guest appearances at College Radio shows and performed across the Tri-State area at such renowned nightclubs as Webster Hall main stage, Irving Plaza, The China Club, Avalon, and Tuxedo Junction. Yet a freshman effort, his CD was placed into heavy rotation on the College Radio charts and scored a top ten and top twenty hit on the CMJ charts. Damien was named by the New England Performer Magazine as one of 'The Best Pop Acts ' out of Boston along side such artists as Aerosmith and Aimee Mann. The remix of his song 'Falling' was commonplace in DJ pools and New York City clubs, including Limelight and Tunnel. In time, Damien's interests led him away from the underground and dance genres and producer-driven projects; he took a hiatus to focus on his songwriting. 1997 spawned his band, Vertigo Blind. They performed live in downtown Village clubs such as C.B.G.B.'s, Luna Lounge, Don Hill's, and The Elbow Room. Though more comfortably seated in the pop/rock genre, and the excitement of performing, he still felt that something was missing from his music. Consequently, Vertigo Blind disbanded in the late summer of 1999. Damien began writing and developing new material. He returned to the studio with a fresh new approach, a hybrid of pop/rock and psychedelic with electronic textures. In the Fall of 1999 he released a small run to industry " Pomme sur le lune" (French translation: Apple on the moon) This 5 song CD which gained him major label interest and courting. In 2000, he formed, Damien and the Echo Boomers a vessel for his songwriting vision, and played New York City venues throughout 2001-2. In 2003 Damien completed his first full length CD "Love Drive- By" Damien released "I Awake" for commercial airplay in spring 2004 The song was quickly added to charts nationally and received a peak #1 spot for most added, Spincrease Top 10, #1 Top 40 Up and coming, AC Top 40 charts, and appeared in the Top 100. His most recent CD "A Tangent Universe" will be a feature released fall 08 with the 1st track to hit radio "Deep Runs the Night" Now with radio and 3 videos to his credit . His future goals: to write, record, perform, and continue to focus and challenge himself as an artist.
