Product Notes

Each human story in each song of Dave Stauffer's Girl Scenes album is taken from the dramatic story in one of the musical screenplays of Dave Stauffer's seven-movie screenplay series, "Sow Y'oats!" In the seven related stories, the same characters are followed from the age of six to their middle age in many dramatic, insightful, religious, romantic, and sexy subplots. The seven screenplays incorporate about eighty original songs that Dave Stauffer has written, and his talented band of singers and musicians has recorded. The plots have a lot to do with dating, maturing, and philosophy dealing with God-and so do the songs they sing. In several of the songs, the singers speak their lines in or during the song, which adds a deep meaning to the words of the songs. By listening to the words and the mood of the music, each listener can feel the emotion of the dramatic event that the song describes in the screenplay. To write his songs, Dave Stauffer has drawn on his many years of singing in church choirs as well as his years of singing, playing bass and guitar, and writing songs in several rock and roll bands that played for years in smoky bars and taverns. Along the way, he acquired a community of outstanding singers and musicians to record his harmonious songs. 1. I Am The Show. A song sung by Tina Purdy as her character does a strip dance in a nudie bar. The song is featured in Stauffer's rock opera, "Wedded Bliss". The lyrics are what the stripper thinks to herself as she watches the men watching her. 2. Let's Go! A group of cheerleaders at a wrestling match sing this song as they prepare for the match to start in Stauffer's rock opera, "The Snare". 3. Ooh To Get Married! Pre-adolescent girls (including Laura Stauffer) sing in Stauffer's rock opera, "The Birds and The Bees-Updated". 4. You Will Be Mine! A determined heroine (Tina Purdy) sings this song in both "The Snare" and "Three Weddings-Two The Hard Way". 5. Crossroads of Love-Girl In "The Birds and The Bees-Updated", a young girl (Angie Meadows) ponders about whether she has found the boy she wants as her boyfriend. 6. Catch A Wave In "The Snare", a young boy takes up surfing to impress beach bunnies (Tina Purdy and Laura Stauffer). The song includes the comments of the beach bunnies on his escapade. 7. Fallen Angel In "The Birds and The Bees-Updated", a young girl (Donna Jose) sings about past events in her short life. 8. A Jealous Rage of Blue In "The Last of The Oats", a veteran stripper (Tina Purdy acting as the stripper) thinks about her relationship to the men watching her dance. 9. A Mommy is a song sung by very young girls (including Haidee Heike) about what they wish to accomplish in their lives. It is from "The Birds and The Bees-Updated". 10. Be Still My Babe, from "The Snare" is sung by a pregnant teen (Tina Purdy acting as the young teen) that decides she will not have the abortion her boyfriend tells her to have. 11. Good Luck My Babe. From "The Snare" is sung by the same teen after her baby is born. 12. Stand By Your Man is from "The Last of The Oats". It is sung to the wife of an unfaithful man by his paramour (sung and acted by Tina Purdy). 13. I'll Stick With You is sung in both "Three Weddings-Two The Hard Way" and "The Last of The Oats". Tina Purdy and Laura Stauffer are two of the singers on the song. 14. Gone, Done & Over is sung in "Wedded Bliss" by the heroine (acted by Tina Purdy) as she contemplates suicide, after her man has left her. 15. Hooray! I'm Saved! Sung by Tina Purdy, is an affirmation of life in "Wedded Bliss". 16. Ooh To Get Married (Long Version) is the longer version of the song.
