Born and raised in Memphis Tennessee, David Benton grew up listening to Johnny Cash, Three Dog Night, Black Oak Arkansas and a plethora of local Blues/Rock artist. As a young adult in the Navy he discovered songwriting gold in John Prine and Bruce Springsteen. 'The first album I ever bought was at a Big Star grocery store in Memphis in about 1968. It was Johnny Cash, 'Folsom Prison Blues'...I think I paid 99 cents for it.' Times have changed much since then but the deep-rooted artistry of pure songwriting shines through in the music of David Benton.
