Suite for Flute & Jazz Piano By Claude Bolling[CD]
What a truly excellent version and interpretation! Your flute playing is really remarkable and a pleasure to hear. Impeccable intonation on the legato stuff like the first part of Sentimentale and a joyous lightness of touch and elegant precision on the bouncy bits. I am also a total sucker for the delicious sound of the bass flute under any circumstances so Versatile is one of my favourites. Peter Asher (Peter and Gordon, Multi Grammy Award Winning Producer, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Randy Newman, 10,000 Maniacs, etc) I found it excellent. Fred Fox (Legendary French horn player, Minneapolis Symphony, Frank Sinatra, Stan Kenton, George Barrere, 'The Essentials Of Horn Playing.') David Lamont has been a fixture in the LA music scene for many years. Known as a flutist in the classical, jazz and session scenes, his work can be heard on movie soundtracks, Emmy Award winning television shows (most recently with Grammy Award winning composer David Kurtz) and radio. David performs as a soloist, with his own group, with the Latin/Jazz group The Escovedo Project, The Los Angeles Flute Orchestra, has performed with Richie Cole, Stanley Jordan, Larry Goldings, Cecilia Coleman, Nedra Wheeler, and has performed in nearly every venue in the Los Angeles area. Pianist Scott Nagatani performs and teaches through the Children's Museum of Los Angeles, adapting children's picture books into song and dance. He also musical directs bilingual shows to seniors across California. Short film composer credits: Pawns of the King, Day of Independence, and Oscar winner Visas and Virtue. He has extensive musical theatre credits including the East/West Theater-Union Center for the Peforming Arts and has received several Dramalogue Awards for musical direction. Bassist John Roland Smith worked for many years with singer Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis and toured with Saxophonist John Klemmer. He works steadily throughout Southern California. Danny Yamamoto is drummer, percussionist, Taiko player and one of the founding members of the Asian American Jazz group Hiroshima. Hiroshima has recorded thirteen albums and continues to tour throughout the world. Along with many others, Danny has also had the pleasure of working with East/West Players, Nobuko Miyamoto, Japenese Festival Sounds, Kinnara Taiko, composer Hans Zimmer, bassist Nedra Wheeler, and The Grateful Crane Ensemble.
