After playing at the Embassy for a year, Brian, Brent, and Steve, decided to branch out on their own. Shortly after, Chris was recruited to play guitar and with the band now established, they set out with a purpose to make a difference in the world. Having a strong desire to "disrupt the way people think about life" they began playing in local high schools, challenging students to think about topics such as fate, hope, and purpose during lunch hour concerts. Their self-titled CD debut was released in 2001 and reflected many of the questions they would ask in concert. The following year included trips to Nova Scotia and Florida along with numerous concerts in churches and camp retreats. During the past four years, Disruption has seen a shift occur in their purpose. In many of their concerts, people began asking them to lead in worship. This began to occur more and more on a regular basis. Audiences seemed to really connect with God during these times and worshipping God flowed naturally from the guys in the band. Their purpose naturally became loving God, loving others, and loving life. After much prayer, they began recording their second CD, focused specifically on worshipping Jesus. With the release of 'The Discovery', Disruption has become more focused on leading people to God through worship. They are passionate about directing people to God and the realization that He is longing for relationship with His creation. He is not distant or absent, but He is near and real and desiring intimacy. He is relevant in any circumstance or situation. That is what drives Disruption, true relationship with God. The songs on The Discovery reflect this journey that we are all on. Disruption has had the privilege of playing alongside such acts as Hawk Nelson, Lost Coin, Starfield, Jake and many more. They have teamed up with Youth for Christ on many occasions and led worship in many churches. But more than anything, they have connected both with their audiences and in leading them to God.
