D'Jazz is best described as Electric Jazz. D'Jazz literally means 'of Jazz' and combines the improvisational elements of Bebop with the Funk, R&B, Rock and Soul. With influences as diverse as Miles Davis to Aretha Franklin to Herbie Hancock to Marvin Gaye to TV Themes D'Jazz combines it all into a hip feel of Cool Jazz. Made up of Jim Mortenson on Saxophones, Kerry Adams on Trumpet and Flugelhorn, Mike Loveless on Piano and Organ, Dave Senft on Drums, and Gary Short on Bass, this band came to play. Make no mistake, this ain't adult contemporary, they are a Jazz Band to the soul, but what makles them unique is they're collective vibe. Their new CD flat-out sounds great. They cover a great range from an ultra-hip version of Gershwin's 'Summertime' to slinky goodness of 'Elm Street' to the quirky homage to Thelonius Monk called 'Got Monk?' You gotta check out this band..
