Eric Newton has honed his songwriting craft from many years of playing coffee houses and bars from Florida to Utah and Aruba and all points in between. He puts an emphasis on lyrics that paint images like 3 minute movies in your mind with plot twists that demand attention be paid. His acoustic guitar attack comes from solo work that requires six strings fill up the room. It is obvious that his influences come from the likes of Tom Waits, Lyle Lovett , Fred Eaglesmith and even Steve Earle. His songs can run the gamut from the woman who needs to leave to why won't she come back to why can't I win her heart. Some can be quirky and some can be mournfully melodious but each one is a gem that stands on it's own and seems to come from personal experience.
