Esma Redžepova - Teodosievska is a distinguished performer and humanist. She was born on the 8th of august 1943 year in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. In her gypsy family the song, music & folklore were a part of a family tradition. At the age of 11 she took a part in a TV show "Microphone is yours" where she won the 1st prize. She was noticed do that performance by Steve Teodosievski who was working as a TV corepetitor at that time. After the finishing the primary education she had started singing with Teodosievski Assembly. Her first performance abroad was in the Theatre "Olympia" in Paris. In the period between 1960 an 1989 Esma and Stevo were living in Belgrade where she graduated on high artistic school. According to their performances in that time all around the world they can be regarded as a "world citizens". Besides the music their interest has always been humanity. In their home more than 40 children were brought up as in a traditional family and today they are great representatives of their parents.Their humanity wasn't only on creation of school a big musical family; they made about 2000 humanitarian concerts and humanitarian activities and donatios. Most remarcable is the donation of "Museum of humanity and music of Esna & Stevo Teodosievski. Anssably have published 108 single records, 20 long play records, 32 audio cassettes, 15 CD's and 6 VHS. Video cassettes. In 1976 in a festival in Chandigar (India) she was official promopunced for a Queen of a Gypsy song. In 1992 she was promounced for a prize of European singing as a unique folk singer with this award. Esma Redžepova - Teodosievska is a winner of many prizes & awards: - Yugoslav October's prize ; - Silver & Golden medal from President of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito; - Silver medal from Red Cross, Monte Negro; - Golden medal for humanity in Bosnia & Hercegovina; - Golden medal from Red Cross, Yugoslavia; - Prize from UNICEF, Yugoslavia; - Prize for "Life achievement, Serbia; - Golden medal "22 December", Yugoslavia; - 1997, The most human woman in Macedonia; - 2000, Gypsy singer of the Millennium, on the festival "Gypsy culture" in Moscow, Russian Federation; - 2000, Golden medal at "World biographical institute in USA; - 2001, Golden Bubamara for Life achievement; - 2003, "The most impressive woman" of the year; - 2004, Prize "13" for the most successful - 2005, "Bjorns' prize", for humanity and fighting for Gypsies' rights Twice she was nominated for a Nobel prize for peace.
