Individually, The Fossils began playing music back when the earth was young... so young in fact that you had to bring your own dirt! It was a stormy November night in 2003 when four guys started getting together several times a week for what was really a boy's night out with music. Just a chance to make some noise and drink beer really. Over the next year, we played mostly cover songs with a few originals mixed in. By November of 2004 we decided to go whole hog and record our own commercial CD release. Now, after almost a year of work we are happy to present our work to you. We used our own recording facilities which gave us the time to get it the way we wanted it: fresh, live and exciting with production values aimed at giving the sonic impression that the band is right in front of you and you're first row center! We used a wide range of guitars, amps and mics to best capture the "classic" rock sounds we love so much. No modeled amps or sampling devices were used. For the keyboard sounds, we used the fabulous Ensoniq SD-1 music production synthesizer which is a PPG wave-table type instrument capable of producing the fat and rich classic synth sounds similar to Fairlight CMI, Synclaviar, or PPG wave units of the past. One thing we can say for sure... We don't sound quite like anybody we've ever heard, though you will no doubt recognize many influences. We hope you enjoy our sound, because that's what we feel we have created.
