Go West young man!' is the story of how Foundation came to be. Sunny Vancouver, BC, is about as far west as you can go north of the 49th, and that is where all 4 members eventually settled, coming from as far east as Alberta and Ontario to pursue their love of music. Thanks to the melting pot of opportunity and talent here in Vancouver, the band members found each other through a series of serendipitous events, and have since attracted an amazing following of people who love the music almost as much as the band does! A funky, original, powerful presence on stage, Foundation really shines in their live performances, with extended jams, four-part vocal harmonies, shredding guitar, sweeping dynamics, tight rhythm, audience participation, funky bass... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Each of the members has such a diverse musical background, it's hard to believe that they are in the same band. Each member has a range of different influences, yet there is a common thread throughout them all, culminating in the groove they are laying down today. James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, Bob Marley, Victor Wooten, Brickhouse, John Coltrane, Metallica and Tom Waits are just some of the influences throughout the band. Foundation has arrived, and is in for the long haul. A combination of talent, dedication, virtuosity, communication, serving the groove, and basically just four guys who love to make music together has made this band what it is today.
