A mesmerizing blend of styles, from hook-laden pop songs to moody, introspective melodies to straight up anthemic rock and roll JAMS, FROSTING offers up a refreshing take on rock music in todays oversaturated world of cookie cutter bands, fledgling indie projects and one trick ponies. For an artist to develop these intertwined styles takes a history of, gigging, writing, recording, personal growth, life experience, passion and perserverence. Mark Grzelak, aka 'Spiv', has been a staple in the Chicago & regional Music Scene for years. Spiv has been the principal guitar-slinger/songwriter/ riff-writer/producer/ cut-and-paste creative musician in Chicago bands: Simple Simon, Javelinas, Blackmaker, as well as the live guitarist from time to time with Michael McDermott band, amongst others.. Logging in gigs around the USA numbering well into the thousands, from House of Blues to the late CBGB's to no-name bars in Fargo, side by side with over 10 albums worth of rock and roll work under his belt, and running his music hub/record label, Kentland Records, one would tend to think the creative candle for an artist in the trenches of the midwest music scene for this duration eventually burns dim. Not a chance. Re-inspiration on the roller coaster ride of rock and roll continues to strike, and FROSTING is Spiv's first project solely on his terms. Assisted by some Chicago friends on the drums as well as the hidden gem female vocalist Laura Lopardo, 'Fresh Frosting' stands as an impressive first release of collective work!
