Fritz De Jean Sr is a multi-talented musician. Born in Port Au Prince, Haiti, at age 11 Fritz and his family moved to Queens, New York just outside of Manhattan. Influenced by his new surroundings and the speedy pace of the New York metropolis, Fritz began playing congas. Caught up in the self-expression of the drums, he learned to play a wide variety of percussion instruments. Fritz maintains that the fire and intensity, which characterize his ability on timbales, tambourine, trap drums, guika and various other percussion instruments, reflect his natural heritage. Fritz has toured worldwide with Jody Watley, Howard Hewitt, Mandrill. He has performed with Blood Sweat and Tears, Dee Dee McNeil, Plas Johnson and many others. Recorded with Mandrill, Chris Fingers and Denni Corbet. This CD is an ecclectic collection of songs and music from the heart and soul. The sultry rhythms of his carib roots, blended with afro-Cuban beats of his heritage and blended with the smooth jazz sounds of the American South ignites a connection to the spirit and love that is truly our LEGACY. Featuring Fritz on percussion, saxophone, flute, piano, and performing all of the vocals.
