Gallery of Souls comes after you from multiple musical angles to lift you up with their terrific debut CD. To help you get a feel for what you will hear on 'Expedition', the following are brief descriptions of each song, as provided by the band. SHINING STAR: Pounding rock with a positive spin. About as heavy as GOS gets on this album. LET THE SUNSHINE IN: Vocally, sort of Righteous Brothers-y, with a R&B-flavored backing horn section and swirling B3 organ - PLUS, a nifty signature Rickenbacker bass riff. Inspired by the Beatles' 'Two of Us'. I DIDN'T KNOW: Lennon-esque early Beatles meet the Allman Brothers and the 21st century. I JUST WANT TO BE: Quintessential power pop ala the Raspberries' 'Go All the Way', with a huge chorus, lush background vocals and boffo ending. APARTMENT 301: Think the Beatles' 'Eleanor Rigby' crossed with 10cc's 'I'm Not In Love', sung by Badfinger's Pete Ham - or possibly Sir Paul himself. A beautiful, melancholy and quirky song. CRAZY ONE: A revved-up Mellancamp takes a stand for the wrongly accused - himself! A little self-defense supported by an arsenal of drums. IT'S YOU: Quasi-psychedelic, upbeat love song, perhaps a cross between 'Paperback Writer' and ... 'Last Train to Clarksville'. (??!!) ONCE IN A LIFETIME: Sincere, sugar-sweet pop love song you won't get out of your head (or your teeth). Clean! Bright! Shiny! THREE PIECE SUIT: Punk angst for the corporate crowd. Inspired by elements of Joe Jackson's 'Look Sharp' and 'Throw It Away', with further influence from ... Herman's Hermits' 'Ace, King, Queen, Jack.' TELL ME: Blatant tip o' the hat to someone amazing. Clean rock, tempered by a shot of sincerity. ON AND ON: Serious rock for a heavy topic - child abuse. EAT AT JOE'S: Fuzzed-out enthusiasm for a favorite hangout. **************** Be sure to also check out 'Tea For One', the second release from Gallery of Souls - right here on CD Baby!
