The goal of making this album was to demonstrate the different musical possibilities of a completely new musical instrument. Recorded in the Giza pyramid in Egypt in 1995 and published in 1996, this is one of the groundbreaking albums dedicated to the music of crystal vessels (also known as crystal singing bowls). On this album you will hear a chakra set, a pentatonic set, binaural and multinaural sets, the dolphin sound, prefectly tuned vessels, head songs accompanied by the vessels, and even crystal vessels played with a violin bow! In 1994 Gaudry and Pauline Normand had the privilege of visiting AT&T's foundry in Philadelphia, where optoelectronic and integrated circuit components were designed and manufactured for the telecommunications and computing industries. While touring the 1.3 million square foot facility, the Normands noticed that a bowl made of pure quartz crystal was at the heart of the manufacturing process, since it was in this vessel that the silica crystals were grown. The Normands subsequently purchased some crystal vessels and began to experiment with them. To their amazement, they discovered that these instruments not only exhibited a singing quality, but could also be used effectively for various musical, therapeutic, meditative and energetic purposes. To manufacture crystal vessels, pure, quartz crystals (silica) are ground into a fine powder and then fused at high heat into the form of a vessel. Since by nature we are piezoelectric and made up of crystalline substances such as silica, we are capable of resonating instantly and intimately with the quartz crystal vessels. The pure sine waves of the vessels spiral out and surround us. They penetrate us, massage us and vibrate in every dimension of our being. Begin by closing your eyes and breathing deeply for a few minutes. Then, easily put your attention on the music. You will soon find yourself floating into a deeply restful, meditative state which will renew your inner self. If at some point you feel as though you are falling asleep, let yourself slip into that restorative slumber. At other times you may realize that thoughts or sensations have distracted you from active listening; then you may gently bring your attention back to the music. The composer of the music on this album and it's performer is Gaudry Normand, a Quebec City native with a Bachelor's degree in ancient Vedic philosophy. Gaudry is a certified teacher of Raja Yoga and an Ayurvedic counselor. At their quartz crystal mine in Québec, Canada, Gaudry and his wife Pauline run an interpretation and educational centre. Since it's inception in 1989, the mine has received some 15,000 people each summer, who come to participate in activities related to quartz crystals and quartz crystal instruments. Over the years, the Normands have given hundreds of crystal workshops and concerts in Canada, the United States, Europe, India and Egypt.
