Vinyl LP pressing. Bitter Pill is Gavin's eagerly-awaited 2016 debut album proper. Several of it's songs will be familiar to fans of Live At Whelan's, the intimate live album the singer released at the start of last year as a calling card, but didn't expect to connect beyond his homeland. On Bitter Pill, those songs have been given the grand setting and loving attention they deserve. Gavin s raw delivery remains, as does his powerful falsetto, but now there are strings, choir-like backing vocals and electric instruments that add drama to the up-tempo tracks. There are also new songs, among them the broodily beautiful title track, co-written with Sasha Skarbek and Jamie Scott (one of only two co-writes on the album). A menacing slow march of a beat, a yearning vocal that builds and builds, a devastating chorus that lingers long after it's gone, it's a song that announces the themes of the album in spectacular style - love and loss, guilt and regret, growing up and moving on.
