The recording process of Greg's third solo album, 'Inventions' was a very time intense project: Twenty-one different musicians had to be coordinated - recording artists who had tight time schedules; played other gigs, were touring world-wide and/or were recording their own albums. But fans were becoming impatient! They wanted to hear Greg's new CD - especially because he was playing most of the new tunes live with his band. That is why we (Greg Porée & Frances Livings) produced and manufactured the CD 'Inventions Pre-release'. We launched the CD on June 1, 2008 at a jazz concert in beautiful Newport Beach and sold out! Four months later, on October 1, 2008 'Inventions' was released - but that's another story... The pre-release CD is a delightful microcosm of the final product 'Inventions'. The selection of songs range from a quirky tune like 'Fresh Air' to a compelling contemporary arrangement of a Bach Minuet: The 'Bach Minuet au Porée' will hopefully become another favourtite of those fans who so love Greg's version of Gustav Holst's 'O God Beyond All Praising'. * * * Greg Porée - Having grown up in a multi-cultural environment, Greg Porée has always been deeply influenced by the exposure to diverse styles of music, ranging from Bach to Beatles, and from Villa-Lobos to Motown. Greg has been fortunate enough to build his career in Los Angeles around music. His instrument is the guitar and currently, his "day job" is being the lead guitarist on the BBC hit show 'Dancing with the Stars'. Apart from always having been musically active in film and television he has worked as a guitarist, musical director, arranger and producer with the most talented musicians, ranging from Ray Charles and Herbie Hancock to Sting and Phoebe Snow. You can hear him on landmark albums from Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Stanely Turrentine, Ahmad Jamal, Benny Golson and James Blunt.
