Heather Flynn's haunting, ethereal voice is arresting in it's pure tone and quality. Her chosen accompaniment is deliberately simple-the ambient electric guitar landscapes of Walt Niedner and the quiet strumming of her own acoustic guitar. Her lyrics are equally spare. Heather's vocals float in and out of a roomy, dreamlike soundscape, telling stories of both emotional disconnect and intimate relationships with ease. Like many singer-songwriters, Heather started writing songs in her bedroom. Armed with her acoustic guitar and a 4-track recorder, she developed the delicate framework that would become her trademark. Walt's spare playing style allowed Heather to add another layer of sound to her music while retaining it's original style. In Delicate is Heather's first full-length release. As a self-described 'dreamscape,' it runs the gamut of emotions from delight to disappointment to deep reflection. Heather's breathy and emotion-packed vocals, plus Walt's deft guitar work, carve out a unique sound space while evoking many of Heather's influences, including Chan Marshall (Cat Power), Harriet Wheeler (The Sundays), and PJ Harvey. Heather has performed extensively around the New York and DC area, appearing at such venues as Pete's Candy Store, the C-Note, the Living Room, and Arlene's Grocery. Walt Niedner started playing guitar ten years ago in the East Village. Experimentation with pedals of varying effect and quality resulted in the spacious and weighty sound he brings to Heather's music today. A recent musical collaboration with longtime friend Adam Rapp was chosen for the film Winter Passing, starring Ed Harris and Zooey Deschanel.
